Hobomok Skipper Butterfly

A butterfly of Canada, this Hobomok Skipper takes a sip of nectar from a cone flower in the backyard. First time I have ever seen these tiny butterflies and two of them were flitting around the flowers! So cute!

This pretty Cone Flower aka Echinacea has benefits to humans, but it was of great benefit to the flock of Gold Finches that seemed to have migrated to the backyard this past year. They loved the seed from this flower and seemed to hang around for what seemed hours. And when the birds weren’t there, some pretty butterflies liked to drink the nectar, fluttering from flower to flower.
