A sure sign that it is Autumn is the male finches not looking so gold any more. Their feathers have changes to a greeny-brown colour and they almost blend in with the ground. How many to you count?
Three phases of Autumn are seen in this photograph. Green leaves on the left, changing leaves on the right, and finally most of the leaves off in the centre.
The birch tree leaves have been turning a lovely yellow over the past few weeks, making for great cover for the gold finches that like to hang out in it as they also change back to their brownish colouring.
